Emerging Voices alumnae Natashia Deon, Marytza Rubio, Mehnaz Turner, and Rachelle Cruz will read at this Silver Lake Jubilee promo show. PEN Center USA will curate the reading stages for the evening.

Check out John Boucher and Sylvia Sukop at the 9th Annual West Hollywood Book Fair!  They’ll be reading their work as a part of  homo-centric, a monthly reading series currently hosted at Stories Books and Cafe in Echo Park.  They also “foster a sense of community by creating this space for GLBTQI writers to gather & share their words.”  Stay tuned for more details on homo-centric’s reading schedule at the Fair!

MMIX Writer, Thi Dao will be reading at The World Stage on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 @ 8:30 pm

Thi Dao is the featured reader at The World Stage Performance Gallery’s Anasi Writers’ Workshop and Reading on Wednesday, April 14th.  The Writers’ Workshop starts at 7:30 pm, where poets and writers are welcome to workshop poems and stories.  The reading begins at 8:30 pm.

April: A Busy Month For MMIX…

This spring, MMIX is continuing to grow in new directions.

It’s April–flowers are blooming, allergies and temperatures are high.  In the traditional spirit of spring, MMIX is continuing to grow and try new things with language and literature in the community.  This month, the members of MMIX will read at two venues, which are new to us.  We’d love to have you there:

◊ On Sunday, April 18th at 4 p.m., MMIX will read original work relating to childhood at MorYork Gallery in Highland Park, in conjunction with MMIX’s own Sylvia Sukop’s photo exhibition

◊ On Thursday, April 22nd at 9 p.m., MMIX will read risky and risque tales at Cafe Muse in Hollywood.  SEX, LIES AND LITERACY promises to be an evening of food, fun, drink and provocative language.
